Every Helias Catholic student will have performed at least 50 hours of community service by the end of their first semester of senior year. Service is to be completed at nonprofit agencies, including churches and schools, that uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Students are encouraged to serve above and beyond the minimum requirement. Those who complete more than 100 hours in one year receive the Blessed Theresa of Jesus Gerhardinger Award, and those who complete more than 500 hours over four years of high school receive the St. John Baptist De La Salle Award and receive a white cord to wear at graduation.

Logging service hours

Students use the MobileServe app to log, track and verify service hours. This database can be accessed via app or website. Click here to log in to Helias Catholic’s MobileServe app, and click here for instructions on how to use MobileServe. Hours completed must be turned in at the end of each academic year.

Service hours may begin after eighth-grade graduation and may be performed over the summer.

Incoming freshmen can use this form to keep track of service hours performed over the summer.

Mission trips

Mission trips offer opportunities to serve in a community outside of our own (both day trips and overnight).

  • Notre Dame Mission Trip – South Bend, Indiana
    • January 19-22, 2023
  • Kansas City Mission Trip: This mission trip is a combination of service and a spiritual experience with the opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ in a special way. Time on this retreat is spent in service of the poor, including assisting with food trucks that feed the homeless in Kansas City, spending time at a local soup kitchen, and serving alongside the Little Sisters of the Poor. The spiritual component of this trip is combined with service and time spent with those in need. Each day students attend Mass and spend time in adoration and prayer in addition to a variety of other faith-building encounters.
