Last week, following our most recent two-week review showing a trend of significantly lower COVID-19 activity in the school environment and surrounding area, Helias Catholic’s administrative team adjusted the COVID-19 protocols that have been in place since the beginning of the 2021-22 school year by removing the requirement that students and staff wear masks during transition periods and in common areas.

We’re encouraged to see that now, more than a week after our students were trusted to participate responsibly in Homecoming activities, our school’s case numbers have remained extremely low.

Effective Tuesday, Oct. 12, masks are no longer required for students and staff at any time in the school setting, including gatherings such as assemblies and Mass. Any student, faculty or staff member is welcome to wear a mask at any point in the day and will be supported in their decision to do so.

The other key priorities of Helias Catholic’s COVID-19 response plan remain in effect. With the support of the Cole County Health Department, we will continue to monitor COVID-19 activity within the community and school environment. At this time we do not anticipate further modifications unless significant changes are observed.

As always, we ask for your continued partnership as we maintain efforts to keep students healthy and learning. Please keep students out of school when they are sick or show any potential symptoms of COVID-19, and encourage them to take appropriate preventive measures both inside and outside of school.
