Celebrating the gift of Catholic education
Dear Helias Catholic family,
Happy Catholic Schools Week!

This week is the annual, national celebration of Catholic Schools Week throughout all of the dioceses in the United States. Like many of you, I am a lifelong Catholic who attended Catholic schools through high school and eventually again for graduate school. I have been blessed to be taught by Ursuline sisters, Jesuits, and Catholic laywomen and laymen. The person I am today is thanks in large part to my years of Catholic education. I am forever grateful to my parents for enrolling me and my sisters and brother in Catholic schools.
Our students today have their own unique experiences of what it means to attend a Catholic school. A large majority of our students come from our Catholic partner schools in the Diocese of Jefferson City. For a number of our students, Helias Catholic feels like a second home. For those of our students who do not come to us from a Catholic school, we make every effort to welcome them into our community. Catholic schools have traditionally been a place where everyone is welcome. So it is with our community at Helias Catholic.
At the heart of our Catholic school is our relationship with God and the call of the Gospel to be disciples of God’s son, Jesus. The foundation of our school is our mission: to form a community of saints and scholars for Christ.
Helias Catholic is a work of the Roman Catholic Church, and as such we are aligned with the teaching of the Church. We are blessed with a talented and loving faculty, staff and administration. We are also deeply blessed by the families of our students who have chosen to partner with us in the formation of their children. There is no greater gift we could receive than to accompany our students on their journey to know and love God alive in their lives.
We will hold each of you in our hearts and in our prayers as we celebrate Catholic Schools Week. You are an important part of our family, and your trust in our Catholic mission makes so many things possible for our community. Thank you! May God continue to bless you and your loved ones.
Live, Jesus, in our hearts — forever!
John Knight
