Summer, a time to build up

Dear Helias Catholic family,

Like many of you, I have been away from home for a number of weeks. The world of education has a unique calendar filled with activities, classes and other programs. Some days there are simply too many opportunities for any one person to attend. And then, just like that, along comes summer.

Over the past few weeks, the offices and hallways of Helias Catholic have been quieter than normal. Construction and maintenance work waxing floors and preparing the building for the new school year continue non-stop. Any staff or faculty member will tell you that the unsung heroes of our school are our custodians and maintenance staff. Thanks to their excellent work, our school will be spotless and ready to welcome students in a few short weeks.

I will provide an update next week as to where things stand with our ongoing construction project. Additionally, I will also provide an update on our strategic growth plan. In the meantime, I ask for your continued prayers and good wishes for our school community. Summertime is ideally a time of rest and relaxation for many people. However, we all know that life presents a lot of unexpected challenges and opportunities. Your prayers, so important to our community, help sustain us amid countless difficulties. So often we simply do not know the cross that many in our community carry each day. Thank you for remembering all of us at Helias Catholic in your daily prayers.

May the remaining weeks of summer afford you the opportunity to enjoy family and friends. And may the remaining weeks of summer also bless you with moments of consolation and a deeper awareness of God alive in your daily life.

Live, Jesus, in our hearts — forever!
