Savor each day’s blessings

Dear Helias Catholic family,

We are in the “home stretch.” Two weeks from today the summer season begins in earnest at Helias Catholic. The renovation of the Crucifix Entrance and Rackers Fieldhouse lobby and locker rooms will have begun. Please stay updated on any important construction news affecting parking, etc., by watching our website and any school text messages. Thank you for your patience with us as we begin an exciting summer!

I am from Ohio, where school typically ended sometime in the middle of June. I certainly love that our school year here concludes by the middle of May. And, of course, like most people, I am not crazy about starting the new school year in the “dog days” of August. However, as with anything in life, there is always a give and take to everything. From time to time I fall into looking too far down the road and not taking enough time to stop and enjoy the present moment. This past weekend my eldest daughter graduated from college. Over the course of the weekend I found myself asking my wife, “Can you believe how fast these four years went?” I know that many of you understand that sentiment.

My prayer for each of us today is that we receive the grace to take time to stop, listen, reflect and savor the moments of the day. Each day is indeed a gift. One of the blessings of summer is the time to relax a little and savor the many blessings of the past school year.

Thank you for continuing to be a blessing to all of us at Helias Catholic. Rest assured that we remember you in our daily prayers.

Live, Jesus, in our hearts — forever!
