Dear Helias Catholic family,
Although the majority of my focus as president is on the non-academic side of the building, I take great joy in witnessing moments big and small in the daily life of our school. Each day we are blessed to encounter Christ in the presence of our students and our colleagues who serve our Catholic mission.
A recent highlight of school activities took place just before our last home football game of the season. Mr. Allen and Mr. Rockers worked with a few young men to plan and provide a social opportunity for our students that also nicely incorporated a reflection offered by one of our Helias Catholic alumni, Greta Hinds, on her experience of faith as she began her freshman year in college. In addition to her inspirational contribution to the evening, the program included yard games, music, food and drinks. I am very proud of the young people who planned and participated in this program; it signals to me that the Holy Spirit is alive and working among our students.
Moments like these wouldn’t be possible without the contributions of many who work behind the scenes to keep Helias Catholic thriving. Last week I met with the board of The Foundation for the Benefit of Helias Catholic High School. The foundation board is comprised of men and women who love our school and work to grow and strengthen our Catholic mission by working with the foundation’s CEO and staff. The primary work of the foundation is to raise funds in support of the school through initiatives like the annual golf outing, the Helias Corporate Crusader Program, the Annual Fund Drive and Bridge the Gap campaign, Grandparents’ Day, and the annual Celebrate the Legacy & Hall of Fame Dinner. All of us at Helias Catholic are grateful for the service of the foundation board members and for the work of the Helias Foundation staff.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner — as always, thank you for your continued interest, support and prayers for Helias Catholic’s students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni and benefactors. My prayers and heartfelt gratitude remain with you and your loved ones.
Live, Jesus, in our hearts — forever!
