Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Much to be thankful for at Helias Catholic

Dear Helias Catholic family,

For many of us, today’s date, Nov. 22, is remembered as the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Although I was only in first grade at the time, my memories of that day and the days to follow are still clear to me. I especially remember the sadness and the confusion felt by my parents and our family friends. Many people came to view that day as the day America lost its innocence.

Zoom forward to today, and it is safe to say that many of us feel sadness and confusion about the state of our country and the larger world. It is so easy to become negative and to feel pessimistic about the future. Yet for those of us who work at Helias Catholic, we are blessed each day to work with a sense of hope and optimism thanks to the young women and young men who make up our student body. The students of Helias Catholic are wonderful young people, so full of life, blessed with unlimited potential and filled with hope for the future. Our community at Helias Catholic is not without its challenges, but the many blessings God has bestowed on us far outweigh those challenges.

When we gather with family and friends for Thanksgiving this Thursday, please remember to give thanks to God for the gift that is the Catholic mission of Helias Catholic. Please also pray for those in our community who are struggling. My continued prayers and good wishes remain with you and your loved ones.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Live, Jesus, in our hearts — forever!
