Season of preparation

Dear Helias Catholic family,

I hope you and your loved ones had an enjoyable Thanksgiving. There are only three weeks left in our first semester! Before we can get to Christmas break, there is the matter of semester exams. I know that our students are excited about the upcoming break and they are also anxious to some degree about their exams. Please keep our students and faculty in your prayers during these days of study and exams.

Looking ahead to Christmas break is sweet and exciting, but there is the season of Advent that each one of us should be attuned to. Yesterday was the first Sunday of Advent. There are only 26 days left in Advent as of today. Advent brings to mind a feeling of expectation, hope and anticipation. I have begun Advent this year by reading and reflecting on the “Little Books series. I have downloaded the app for the “Little Books” and am committed to praying and reflecting on each day’s entry and scripture passage over the coming days of Advent. I hope that you are able to put aside a little time each day to pray and reflect on your relationship with God and to prepare yourself for Christmas.

My prayers and the prayers of our school community remain with you and your family and friends. May God continue to hold you close to His sacred heart.

Live, Jesus, in our hearts — forever!

John Knight
