Furthering Helias Catholic’s strategic growth

Dear Helias Catholic family,

Almost two years ago Helias Catholic High School undertook a strategic growth planning process. Many members of our community met to discuss our school and to look ahead to the areas and ways we can strengthen it in the years ahead. The result of those discussions was the creation of a “Strategic Growth Plan” (SGP).  The SGP highlighted 11 areas of focus for the school community to address in order to grow and strengthen our school. Then the pandemic hit, school leadership changed, and several months later here we are.

After reviewing the work accomplished during the planning process and discussing next steps forward with Helias Catholic’s Advisory Council, school leadership and Diocese of Jefferson City Superintendent of Schools Dr. Erin Vader, and receiving approval from Bishop W. Shawn McKnight, Helias Catholic is streamlining the original 11 focus areas into three broader areas to focus our work.

The three strategic areas we will focus on are Catholic identity, academic excellence and organizational vitality.

In the coming weeks I will outline the steps we will be embarking upon to look more deeply at each of these areas. I will be inviting you to join us in this important work by serving on a committee or a “breakout group” to help us begin to implement the many outstanding suggestions that are an outgrowth of the strategic planning process.

Each one of us has an important role to play in the future of Helias Catholic High School. I look forward to beginning the implementation of our strategic growth plan in the weeks and months to come.

Help Bridge the Gap

The Foundation for the Benefit of Helias Catholic High School is well into its annual Bridge the Gap fundraising campaign. Hopefully by now each family with a student currently enrolled at Helias Catholic has received a letter from the foundation that was signed by me.

Tuition at Helias Catholic for this academic year is $3,000. The actual cost to the school to educate a student is $9,170. The difference between tuition and the cost to educate a student is $6,170.

We need every family with a student at Helias Catholic to donate to the Bridge the Gap campaign between now and the end of this calendar year so we can keep tuition at an affordable rate and continue to provide the best Catholic secondary education possible. Please make as generous a contribution as you can!

We are blessed with benefactors who have generously supported our Catholic mission in recent years. Each one of us is called to do our part and to give our fair share to our mission. Thank you on behalf of the young men and young women we are blessed to serve each day for your contribution to the Bridge the Gap campaign.

My prayers and the prayers of the Helias Catholic community remain with you and your loved ones.

Live, Jesus, in our hearts, forever!

John Knight
