As we move into the new year, I want to pass along a few thoughts as to just how our students are being invited to form a closer relationship with God.
May God continue to bless each one of us with the conviction and the desire to live according to the ideals of the Gospel — love, forgiveness, justice, acceptance, tolerance and fidelity to God’s call.
Today is the beginning of our first full week of school in the new year. I want to update you on a few items in the midst of everything that is taking place this month.
In order to truly love Jesus, one must first know Jesus. Our students have also come to know Jesus through the countless moments of being cared for and supported by our school community.
In the midst of the last few days before Christmas, I hope that you and your loved ones are able to find a few moments of peace and quiet.
Throughout Advent I have found myself focusing more and more on Mary. What faith Mary had! What trust in God’s call!
One of the highlights of this school year so far was Oct. 21, when we gathered alumni from the classes of 1957-61 and former Crusader football players who were part of Coach Jack Schnieders’ teams legendary 32-game winning streak. What stood out the most was the love and friendship those players still have for one another as well as their classmates in attendance.
Over the past week I have been reflecting on the Second Coming of Jesus as part of our Advent journey. Part of my reflection has focused on the Kingdom of God and all that means to me. It is certainly easy for me to fall into a state of wonder, excitement and joy as I imagine how the Kingdom of God will look.
My prayer for each of us is that we take time to reflect on the great gift of the birth of Jesus. I pray, too, that we take the time to prepare our souls for the reality that Jesus will come again.
