Helias Catholic to stage 'Grease' spring musical March 15-17
Get ready to rock and roll as Helias Catholic High School stages the classic “Grease” as its 2024 spring musical March 15-17 at the Miller Performing Arts Center in Jefferson City.
“Grease" tells the story of high school sweethearts Sandy Dumbrowski and Danny Zuko navigating the ups and downs of young love in the 1950s with their friends the Pink Ladies and the Burger Palace Boys. Featuring fan favorite rock-and-roll musical numbers like “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightning” and “We Go Together,” “Grease” has become one of the world’s most popular musicals since debuting Off-Broadway in 1972 and inspiring multiple revivals, film adaptations, and countless community theater productions.
Amy Pringer will serve as director and musical director, making “Grease” the seventh musical production she has led for Helias Catholic High School. Helias Catholic President Ron Vossen will continue building on his 40-plus years of involvement with the spring musical, serving as production manager and set designer.
Helias Catholic’s spring musical is a long-running tradition that regularly involves up to 100 students and community members, from elementary-age actors to community volunteers who help with lights, sound, costumes, choreography and more. Recent years’ musical productions have included “West Side Story,” “Anastasia,” “Back to the ‘80s,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Footloose,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Wizard of Oz.”
Tickets will be available to purchase for $15 each beginning March 4 by calling the school office at 573-635-6139.
