Technology

Helias Catholic High School believes in equitable access to technology in the educational environment with the intention of continuing to enhance dynamic classroom instruction and supporting a consistent learning environment for students and staff.

Chromebook Checkouts

Any Helias Catholic student may check out a Chromebook from the technology office, located next to the Crusader Commons, for a period as short as a day or as long as a school year.

In order for a student to check out a school-owned Chromebook,

Parents acknowledge at the time of enrollment their agreement and the expectation for students to abide by Helias Catholic’s technology policies as outlined in the Student/Family Handbook.

School Technology Plan

Helias Catholic has begun a phased process of assigning a Chromebook laptop device to all students to support a consistent, dynamic learning environment.

  • In the 2024-25 school year, all ninth-grade students will be assigned a school-provided Chromebook and will not be permitted to use other devices at school.
  • In the 2025-26 school year, all ninth-grade and tenth-grade students will be assigned a school-provided device and will not be permitted to use other devices at school.
  • In the 2026-27 school year, all ninth-grade, 10th-grade and 11th-grade students will be assigned a school-provided device and will not be permitted to use other devices at school.
  • In the 2027-28 school year and thereafter, all students will  be assigned a school-provided device and will not be permitted to use other devices at school.

During this time of transition, students not required to use a school-assigned Chromebook who choose to use their own device at school should adhere to Helias Catholic’s “bring-your-own-device” policy, which includes guidelines for acceptable student devices.
