Helias Catholic announces Kyle Markway as head wrestling coach
Kyle Markway will become Helias Catholic’s head wrestling coach beginning with the 2024–25 season.
Coach Markway is an experienced wrestling coach with a proven record of success. He has served as head wrestling coach at Knoxville Catholic High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, since 2022.
“Helias Catholic is blessed to have found an accomplished and knowledgeable wrestling coach who demonstrates our school’s values of faith, community and excellence,” said Mr. Dwayne Clingman, athletic director and assistant principal. “I’m confident that Coach Markway will represent the shield well in our wrestling program and in the community.”
Coach Markway is a physical therapist with degrees from Christian Brothers University and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. The son of two Crusader alumni, he looks forward to becoming part of the Helias Catholic community.
“I’m thrilled about this new opportunity at Helias Catholic. What excites me most is the chance to build on the strong foundation of Helias Catholic’s wrestling program and to help our student-athletes achieve their full potential, both on and off the mat,” Coach Markway said. “I hope to contribute not only to the athletic success of the wrestling team but also to the overall growth and well-being of the student-athletes under my care.”
As a student-athlete at Knoxville Catholic High School from 1999–2003, he was a four-time state qualifier and three-time state placer, and he holds the record for most career wins at his alma mater.
Coach Markway will relocate to the Jefferson City area with his wife, Jess, and sons, Kyle and Henley.
