The Helias Catholic Robotics team had yet another successful season to add to the books. Throughout the season, the team placed in the top of most tournaments.
Stephen Kummer (12) stated, “I think we did great this season. Honestly, I think this was our best season.”
Kummer was one of three seniors on the team this year, alongside Colin Holdener and Cody Mackey. The team continued to have both a varsity and junior varsity team, with the format of two teams being introduced just last year.
Despite the success of the year, the team had to overcome many challenges. However, that didn’t stop them from achieving their goals.
“We faced a lot of difficulties. Probably our biggest problem was having to rebuild our entire launching mechanism in about two weeks or so,” Kummer explained.
Throughout the season, both teams built their mechanisms, featured them in competitions, and ultimately came out of the season victorious.
“[My favorite part about doing robotics is having] the ability to use your imagination and being able to create anything you want,” Kummer said.
The team will once again compete with a varsity and junior varsity squad next season.
