Future Helias Catholic Dance Explosion

Recently, on September 26, 2026, young dancers filled the football field with energy as the members of Helias Dance Explosion dance team hosted its kids clinic, giving local children the opportunity to learn new dance skills and spend time with the team.
Deaven Duemmel (12) talked about her favorite parts of the kids clinic.
“My favorite part was probably getting to see the kids, getting to learn about what HDX is about, and getting to see each and every talented little dancer,” she said.
Duemmel has already experienced teaching younger kids before so the kids clinic wasn’t a whole new experience for her.
“I’ve had experience with teaching young kids before so it wasn’t much different, but it’s just fun to be able to put into perspective of what you’ve learned and how you’ve grown and just seeing how like that was once you, and just seeing the potential and growth they all have,” she said.
During the clinic, the members taught a short dance that they performed at the pre-game.
“We taught a dance that we performed at the pre-game before the football game started. For my group we also went across the floor and we did leaps, and then we taught them pom and we just did some kicks across the floor. Just to give them what kind of what HDX is about and just the dance team in general,” Deaven added.
Another part that was one of Deaven’s favorites was getting to hear the kid’s funny comments and all of them having their attitude.
“Because they are little kids they all have like little sass and their comments are really funny, also at the end some other dancers and I got these free Chick- Fil- A cards, so that was another one of my favorite parts,” she says.
She thinks that events like the kids clinic helps get Helias Dance Explosion out there more and what is about.
“It just spreads what HDX is about and it shares how our community gets built and especially for Helias Catholic, we are a warm welcoming community, and it just builds a great community to bring future dancers to Helias,” Deaven says.
Tinley Bode (10) also talks about her experiences about the Helias Dance Explosion kids clinic and her favorite parts that happened.
“My favorite part about the kids clinic was probably hanging out with the kids,” Bode quoted.
She enjoyed playing games with them and talking to the kids about their lives.
“I really enjoyed hanging out with the kids and talking to them about their lives because they are so much different from ours. And also playing games like little Sally Walker and a sassy walk competition,” she said.
Teaching the kids to Bode was a little bit unexpected because of the population of the kids.
“It was a little unexpected because there were so many of them but it was fine,” Bode added.
She hopes that the kids learn about HDX and how it is super fun to be on.
“I hope the kids know that it is super fun and I hope that they want to be on it in the future,” Bode said.
The kids clinic gave young dancers the opportunity to learn new skills while having fun with the Helais Dance Explosion dance team. Throughout the clinic, the dancers worked with the kids, taught them new moves and dances, and encouraged them to enjoy dancing. The event was a fun experience for both the kids and the dance team, creating memories that they can take with them. As the clinic came to an end, the dancers and kids left with new skills, new friendships, and a shared love for dance.
