Parent/Family Information & FAQs

This page outlines general information about school operations and frequently asked questions.

Attendance

Helias Catholic should be notified of all student absences in writing. If a student is unable to attend school, the parent must send an email to attendance@heliascatholic.com no later than 8:15 a.m. Any student who is ill at school should report to the school nurse.

Drop-off and Pick-up

Students who do not drive themselves to school can be dropped off and picked up in the front parking lot facing Swifts Highway. Please enter the front parking lot at the entrance closest to the Myrtle Avenue side lots and exit the front parking lot at the exit closest to Carter Street.

Learning Platforms & Communication Tools

  • Email: Helias Catholic contacts parents via email for formal communication such as communication with individual teachers and formal documentation such as attendance letters and behavior incidents.
  • FACTS: Parents use their individual FACTS Family Portal account to access student grades, pay tuition, add money to lunch accounts, and complete re-enrollment documentation via the FACTS student information system. Click here for instructions to access the FACTS Family Portal.
  • Google Classroom: Students use Google Classroom to engage in their classes digitally, accessing class work and resources posted by teachers.
  • ParentSquare: Helias Catholic uses ParentSquare (for parents) and StudentSquare (for students) as a centralized platform for school notifications. Click here for more information about ParentSquare.

Lunch & Food Service

Hot lunches and breakfast items are prepared by Fresh Ideas food service management in the cafeteria with a la carte food items available for purchase on all full school days. Funds may be added to a student’s lunch account through the FACTS Family Portal as needed, or students may pay for lunch using cash. Students may bring their own lunch to school; microwaves are available in the Commons for student use during lunch periods.

Public Transportation

JeffTran, Jefferson City’s public city bus service, passes Helias Catholic High School on its Green (High Street East) route Mondays through Fridays. As of July 2023, JeffTran’s Green route arrives at the bus stop at Swifts Highway and Myrtle Avenue around 7:06 a.m. before school and around 3:06 p.m. after school. Full route maps and schedules are available on the JeffTran website at www.jefftran.org.
