Mrs. Sue Bruemmer honored with Good Samaritan Award
Helias Catholic High School mathematics teacher Mrs. Sue Bruemmer received the Fisher Family Good Samaritan Award during the annual Redemption Inside the Walls concert in Jefferson City on Saturday, September 21.
Mrs. Bruemmer selflessly gives of her energy and time within the classroom and beyond. She's a mentor to others, a team player and she embodies Helias Catholic's vision of building a community of saints and scholars for Christ.
She always looks for new approaches to reach struggling students, including organizing a twice-weekly after-school math lab where she empowers students to help each other learn.
She also volunteers her time each spring to mentor and supervise students who work backstage in Helias Catholic's spring musical productions.
Mrs. Bruemmer was chosen by faculty and staff as Helias Catholic's Staff Member of the Year in 2022 and named a McDonald's Outstanding Educator the same year. She has taught at Helias Catholic since 2016 and, before that, taught at St. Martin Catholic School from 2004-16.
