Helias Catholic celebrates 2024-25 senior awards

Helias Catholic High School recognized seniors in the graduating Class of 2025 for their academic performance, service and achievements at a ceremony following their Baccalaureate Mass on Thursday, May 8.
Kenadi Harrison and Richard Mosha received the Father Helias Award, given to a senior boy and girl chosen as a result of their outstanding contribution to Helias Catholic during their four years of attendance.
Sam Lopez and Catherine Meystrik received the American Legion Citation, given to a senior boy and girl selected by the faculty based on leadership, scholarship and service.
Matthew Liebsch and Mary Iris Morrisey received the Veterans of Foreign Wars Award, given to a senior boy and girl selected by the faculty based on citizenship, scholarship and good attendance record.
Seven seniors received the John Baptiste De La Salle Service Award for contributing 500 or more hours of service to our community during their high school years: Claire Cassmeyer, Caroline Hayes, Claire Huntley, Lauren Mathews, Alaina Meyer, Crosby Pierce and Julian Schmidt.
Twelve seniors received the Blessed Theresa of Jesus Gerhardinger Service Award for 100 or more hours of community service during the 2024-25 school year: Charlotte Bybee, Claire Cassmeyer, Lydia Gassen, Caroline Hayes, Claire Huntley, Matthew Liebsch, Lauren Mathews, Alaina Meyer, Crosby Pierce, Julian Schmidt, Cambri VanLoo and Lauren Verslues.
Seven seniors were recognized for committing to service in the U.S. Armed Forces: Max Brinegar, Gavin Hoelscher, Adam Kleffner, Alexzander Libbert, Taylor Sherlock, Cameron Smith-Tyus and Caleb Sweezer.
Charlotte Bybee, Claire Huntley, Grant Lamb, Charles Alex Lewis, Lauren Mathews, Catherine Meystrik, Lydia Moellers and Margaret Stonner received The Foundation for the Benefit of Helias Catholic High School Scholarship for $2,000.
Alaina Meyer and Mary Iris Morrisey each received a $2,000 scholarship from the Pink Star Foundation, established in memory of 2007 Helias Catholic graduate Mary Corinne “Corrie” Talken to provide assistance for the elderly, those with disabilities and the homeless community in the greater Jefferson City area.
Mary Iris Morrisey received the Maddie Scott Scholarship of $2,000, awarded in honor of 2017 Helias Catholic graduate Maddie Scott to recognize a senior who has demonstrated strong community involvement and maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Kaitlyn Bates, Kendal Herzing and Michael Pringer each received the River Region Credit Union Scholarship for $2,000.
Aleksandr Careaga received the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers for $1,500.
Emerson Mason received the Red Cross Service Scholarship of $1,500.
Nine seniors received scholarships from the CRMC Partners: Lindley Buchanan, $1,200; Emerson Mason, $1,100; Eloise Lock, $1,000; Lydia Moellers, $1,000; Lauren Mathews, $600; Alaina Meyer, $600; Lela Mueller, $500; Margaret Stonner, $500; and Cambri Van Loo, $500.
Margaret Stonner received the JCMG Scholarship for $1,000 and the Zonta Irene Robinette Scholarship for $1,000.
Alaina Meyer received a Jefferson City Breakfast Rotary Club scholarship of $1,000 and the Jerome and Beatrice Forck Scholarship of $1,000.
Harper Moats received the Rotary West Scholarship of $1,000 and the Dick WIlson Scholarship of $500 to be used at Lincoln University.
Charles Blanton and Molly Case each received the Blanton Family Scholarship for $1,000.
Jude Dallmeyer, Camden Hoelscher, Calen Jones and Benjamin Miller each received the Corey Bax Memorial Scholarship for $1,000, established by the Bax family in memory of their son Corey, who was a graduate of the Class of 2008.
Flynn Hamilton received the Wayne Richard Scholarship Award from Pascale’s Pals, a nonprofit organization that helps children with serious conditions treated at MU Children’s Hospital, and the David Kenneth Clark Scholarship of $1,000.
Nathaniel Strope received the Jefferson City Evening Lions Club Scholarship of $750.
Mazie Patek received the Donald and Virginia Campbell Scholarship of $500.
Lauren Verslues received the Partners in Education Outstanding Youth Leadership Award recognizing students who display leadership qualities such as honesty, integrity, dependability, respectfulness and compassion.
Ten seniors received the Joseph Mayer Memorial Scholarship: Kenadi Harrison, Abigail Heckenkamp, Claire Huntley, Calen Jones, Alexander Marberry, Lauren Mathews, Mary Iris Morrisey, Alyssa Muenks, Macy Sommerer and Margaret Stonner.
Kenadi Harrison received the KWOS Sportscasters Scholarship for $500, awarded to a graduating senior who has a good academic record and has lettered in at least one sport.
Madelyn Vieth received the Mid America Bank Scholarship.
Emma Goetz, Jack Hamilton and Alaina Meyer received the 2025 Gilbert G. Hilkemeyer Scholarship.
Jack Ewers and Lauren Verslues received the Jefferson City Eastside Business Association Scholarship.
NAME received the Cole County Citizenship and Service Scholarship of $500.
Bryce Reed received a $500 Buchheit Scholarship.
Kenadi Harrison and Timothy Tharp received the Award of Excellence from the Missouri State High School Activities Association for exemplary display of sportsmanship, ethics and integrity.
Madeline Larkin received the Triple H Award for receiving three varsity letters in a single school year.
Claire Huntley received the Tuesday Club Grace Blair Humanities Award, which honors a senior student who has excelled in the humanities.
Adrienne Henderson, Daisy Jahnsen, Grant Lamb and Alaina Meyer were recognized for their participation in the Optimist International Essay Contest. Alaina won the local club contest with her essay and will go on to compete for a $2,500 scholarship.
Four seniors were recognized for Outstanding Scientific Research: Claire Cassmeyer, Laure Mathews, Alaina Meyer and Richard Mosha.
Emily Sanning and Madelyn Vieth were honored for induction into La Société Honoraire de Français (French Honor Society). This is the highest honor awarded to those who study French at Helias Catholic. Students must be continuously enrolled in French courses, have a 4.0 in those French courses, and have a 3.75 overall GPA.
The following Helias Catholic seniors received recognition at the Nichols Career Center Award Ceremony on April 29:
- Cale Castrop was named an Outstanding Student Nominee in Building Trades and earned the Nichols Career Center Seal of Excellence in Building Trades.
- Bryce Reed earned the Nichols Career Center Seal of Excellence in Welding.
- Ethan Sargent earned the Nichols Career Center Seal of Excellence in Computer Technology.
