Scientific research assisted by Emily Rodriguez '24 and Karoline Klebba '24 published
Crusaders Karoline Klebba '24 and Emily Rodriguez ‘24 contributed to research featured in Scientific Reports, the fifth most-cited journal in the world that publishes original research from across all areas of the natural sciences, psychology, medicine, and engineering.
They assisted in undergraduate-level research titled “Enhancing antibacterial efficacy through macrocyclic host complexation of fluoroquinolone antibiotics for overcoming resistance,” providing the molecular dynamics work and analysis that complemented experimental results to elucidate possible interactions between the host-guest molecular system.
Karoline and Emily participated in Helias Catholic's independent chemistry research program in partnership with the University of Missouri and University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy, under the direction of Helias Catholic science instructor Dr. Collin Mayhan.
